Story
Every year during the summer, a camp for special needs scouts takes place. The camp helps scouts with both physical and learning disabilities learn new skills, make new friends and enables them to become more independent away from home.
In the UK there are approximately 13 million people that have a disability - around 1 in 5 people. This means that the majority of people have been affected by disabilities in one way or another. The camp's goal is to provide a week of fun and learning to as many people as possible.
The camp has been running for over 70 years with more and more scouts taking part each year. Around 120 special needs campers and volunteer helpers such as myself currently attend the week long camp every summer.
I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for the camp to be able to afford more equipment and facilitate as many people as possible.
