I'm raising £3000 to support the delivery of 2025/26 WISE Mentoring projects in Glasgow Primary Schools!

Walk-For-WISE is a fundraising event where a group of us will be walking 12 miles in fun costumes across Glasgow Landmarks to raise money for WISE Mentoring!
Wow! A lot has happened since the launch of WISE Mentoring back in 2023, and it has been amazing to see WISE grow and flourish alongside the young people that are at the heart of our mentoring program.
We have…
- Delivered 96 mentoring sessions and worked with 31 children in our weekly mentoring programme across 4 groups in 2 primary schools in 2023/24
- Taken the mentees on a fun (albeit muddy) trip to Clyde Valley Family Park (something that was really special as we didn’t think that we would be able to fund such an outing)
- Delivered a ‘Sports and Wellbeing’ themed summer holiday camp for 35 children in the local community, which included a fun day out!
- Welcomed our first paid intern
- Expanded our work to an additional primary school in Glasgow’s East End! By the end of the academic year, we will have delivered 144 mentoring sessions, working with 46 children across 6 groups in 2024/25
- Taken the mentees on two amazing trips to Glasgow Science Centre, where they got to bond with their mentors in a new environment
- Organised and delivered lots of Family Days and Graduate Days (Graduates are children who have previously been part of the programme and still have connection to WISE)
- Received overwhelmingly positive feedback for the family/graduate days from schools, children, volunteers, parents and members of the community.
Our most recent exciting news is that we were invited to speak at Glasgow City Council’s Health and Wellbeing Festival in the City Chambers! At this event we had the opportunity to share the story of WISE and our work with many more educators. We received overwhelming interest from schools in regards to our mentoring projects.
Being able to continue this transformative work was largely due to the generous support we received in our initial crowdfunder back in 2023, and we want to share our gratitude for every single person who donated - we cannot thank you enough!
It’s clear to see that the children’s sense of self and confidence are stronger; they are more aware of their emotional states, coping strategies, and support networks. They take on responsibility roles, building teamwork skills and helping each other. (Mentor)
By believing in our children and giving them encouragement and support, the mentors made a huge and lasting positive impact on their young lives which will stay with them forever. (Headteacher)
To continue delivering our work to support young people, we are asking for your help again, but this time we will also be taking on a challenge! A group of our fabulous volunteers will be embracing our inner child by conquering a 12 mile walk in dress-up around landmarks in Glasgow to help fund our mentoring projects in 2025-26!
As the Community Outreach Director for WISE Mentoring, I get to witness firsthand the power of mentoring - how a consistent, caring presence can shift the course of a young person’s life. I’ve seen every child who's come through WISE come out a more confident, resilient version of who they are, just because someone took the time to listen, guide, and believe in them.
This 12-mile walk is my way of honouring those journeys. It’s a physical reflection of what mentoring is all about: walking alongside someone, step by step, through life’s ups and downs. I’m walking because I believe every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. Because I’ve seen the difference our work makes. And because I know that with a little help, our young people can go far. I'm also walking to show support to our fabulous mentors, who dedicate time every single week to go on that journey with their mentees. And lastly, I'm walking with the WISE community as a whole to spread the word of our amazing work and ensure its successful continuation, into next year and beyond. (Amy Livingstone, Outreach Director)
WISE Mentoring is a not-for-profit organisation that relies entirely on donations, grants, and the dedication of volunteers to operate. We do not charge fees for mentoring, holiday projects, or other activities, as most of the children we support come from areas of multiple deprivation.
The funds raised through Walk-for-WISE will directly support our 2025/26 mentoring programme, helping us offer high-quality, consistent support to more children. Teachers select the children who need the most support in areas like confidence and emotional wellbeing.
Just £500 provides transformative mentoring for one child for an entire year. With your help, we can continue to help more children grow in character, confidence, and well-being.
I’m raising money for WISE so that we can continue the excellent work that we do next year and ensure that we can help more children to develop in character and confidence. With your help, we can give more children the opportunity they deserve to develop and grow. Creating these safe spaces and environments where children feel valued and heard is so vital for the transformative work. (Lucy Krauth, Project Leader)
Every penny counts - whether you are able to donate £5 or £5000 - you help a child to meet with a mentor who consistently shows up and give them a safe space where they are listened to as well as to help WISE grow to provide consistent support to more children and their families in 2025/26.
Not sure how much to donate? A donation of £8 will print Part 1 and Part 2 of the Wisebook (our workbook designed in-house!), a donation of £100 could fund 14 hours of mentoring time, a donation of £1,000 could fund the project group to go on a day trip during the school holiday, and a donation of £3,000 could fund our three day summer camp with 35 children…!
We understand that not everyone has the capacity to donate, so don't worry – there are other ways to help! Sharing this page with friends or family could help us reach our goal, or if you want to go the extra mile (or 12…) we are keen for as many people to get involved on the day as possible, sign up here! - https://forms.gle/iUBNjU8aGkY2YjVb8
WISE Mentoring is a community organisation that focuses on the wellbeing, support, inspiration and empowerment of young people through character education and mentoring. We develop and deliver character-focused mentoring projects and support children living in the North East of Glasgow. Our aim is to inspire children through the power of character education, supporting them through safe, 1:1 mentoring relationships, and empowering them to participate in their communities and contribute to society.
The children genuinely look forward to and enjoy attending our mentoring sessions. They often arrive full of energy, bursting with anticipation to tell their mentor a story from their week. Other times, they come in more withdrawn or upset, and instinctively go straight to their mentor — a trusted, safe space where they can talk about their feelings. By offering this safe and positive space where the children feel heard and valued, we help them engage meaningfully with our Character and Wellbeing Curriculum, allowing them to grow and providing important social-emotional skills that will stick with them not only through the program but for the rest of their lives. (Yasmin Gordon, Project Leader)
Your donation will support our work in 2025/26. This includes our weekly Character Mentoring Programme that takes place in schools, Family Drop-in Days on weekends for the children and families, Holiday Projects and Graduate Days for our previous attendees. We train volunteers, mostly university students, as mentors who provide 1:1 support, helping children develop their self-belief and emotional wellbeing, practise resilience, and engage more in positive things in their lives.
WISE Mentoring is a continuation of the charity Citywise Mentoring, which operated in Manchester and Glasgow and was closed in 2023 for logistical reasons. Honouring the personal relationships we have with the community and the requests we received to keep the work going, we have a dedicated team of 6 staff, most of whom are voluntary, and 35 volunteer mentors to continue providing support. Even though we are fairly new in name, we have a strong track record of providing youth mentoring activities in the community for over seven years.
