Story
My 12 year old son recently took part in a fundraising event by the local Lions Club to raise funds for a community defibrillator. This gave him the idea to raise the funds to get a defibrillator put in the public access area of his school grounds to be used as a community asset. Many local groups use the community hall and there are a number of care and retirement homes in immediate vicinity that would all benefit should the need arise.
According to the South West Ambulance service in 2018 community defibrillators were used more than 3, 600 times to resuscitate a patient and for every minute a person has to walk to get to a community defibrillator the patients chances of survival drops a further 10%.
He will is hosting a number of fundraising events at school but we hope that the local community will pitch in for such a life saving piece of equipment.
Any donation made be it £1 or £100 is welcome and any additional funds raised will go towards the initial cost, electrician fitting fee and the ongoing maintenance of the defibrillator.
Thank you in advance for your kind donation.
