Story

* So we reached our 'monkey' target in under a week. Bloody amazing! Joe would have been blown away by your kindness. It makes us happy to have the chance to do something do good in Joe's name. Please don't stop donating as an extra money will be targeted in either 3A, where Joe spend 8 weeks last year or in areas where the surgeons and anesthiatists work. Joe was so well looked after + it will be an honour to give back in some way. We're in communication with the hospital regarding possibilities.

Thank you all again for your kindness and support. xxx

On 20th December 2018 we took our amazing kid Joe to hospital for x-rays on a sore shoulder. After a MRI scan the next day we were told he had a very large growth inside his spinal cord. Even before the biopsy operation on 8th January we were told it was "as bad as it can possibly be".

We bought Joe a soft, cuddly orangutan to give him a friend to cuddle when he felt scared or sad and to keep him company through treatments and recovery.

Sadly we were told there was no cure for what turned out to be a very aggressive, large grade 4 tumour. Joe was super brave, funny and selfless through surgery, radio and chemo therapy even though he must have been terrified.

When Joe was told he was going to die he said he wanted kids to know who he was and that cancer wasn't something to be scared of.

We want to let the kids who have to be in hospital and in Robin House Hospice over the Christmas period know that they are loved and that people think about them; what better way than to give each kid a soft, cuddly friend from all of us in Joe's name. We will add a tag to each bear with the name of the donator. He'd be very proud.

When he was told he was going to die he asked us to think about him, but to 'live happy lives'.

Joe died at home on 15th July 2019. He was selfless, brave and caring with a wicked sense if humour. We know he'd be so chuffed that we were giving back to other kids this first Christmas without him.
