Story

On 20th December 2018 we took our amazing kid Joe to hospital for x-rays on a sore shoulder. After a MRI scan we were told he had a very large growth inside his spinal cord which turned out to be an incurable cancerous tumour.

We bought Joe a soft, cuddly orangutan to give him a friend to cuddle when he felt scared or sad and to keep him company through treatments and recovery.
Joe was super brave, funny and selfless through surgery, radio and chemo therapy even though he must have been terrified and finally when he was told he was going to die he said he wanted kids to know who he was and that cancer wasn't something to be scared of.

We want to let the kids who have to be in hospital and in Robin House Hospice over the Christmas period know that they are loved and that people think about them; what better way than to give each kid a soft, cuddly friend from all of us in Joe's name. He'd be very proud.

When he was told he was going to die he asked us to think about him, but to 'live happy lives". He died peacefully at home on 15th July 2019. He was selfless, brave and caring with a wicked sense if humour. We know he'd be so chuffed that we were giving back to other kids this first Christmas without him.
