    Story

During his fifth operational tour in Afghanistan, Matt came up with an idea to start the Afghan Injured and Martyred (AIM) Project in order to provide a mechanism to give back. His experiences in Afghanistan have included operations from the tactical to the strategic level within teams working to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF), especially the Afghan National Police and Ministry of Interior. He has previously raised money to purchase soccer equipment and kit for local schools in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The AIM Project is being coordinated by a group of military and civilian personnel currently deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan. This team of individuals have instrumental roles in training, advising, and assisting the ANDSF to create a sustainable security model that enhances governance and protects the people of Afghanistan. Due to the high threat and insurgent activities across the country, many of the Afghan National Police officers and other security forces are being severely wounded or even killed during their selfless service to their country. This is where AIM can help.

For those deployed, we are seeking $30 donations and a pledge to run/walk/cycle/row 290.56 miles each - to replicate the distance between Helmand and Kabul, Afghanistan. For those at home and unable to participate by completing the prescribed mileage, you can generously donate monetarily towards the cause. Any donation $100 and over, please email afghaninjuredandmartyred@outlook.com, if you would like one of our event t-shirts mailed to your home address at no additional cost.

All money raised will go towards sponsoring Afghan servicemen participating in the Invictus Games over the next few years.

We are hoping that this project will grow to do even more to support Afghan injured and martyred servicemen and women, along with their families across Afghanistan. Donate now to make a difference!

Amazing news from the Invictus Games so far: Two wounded Afghan warriors clinched first medals for their nation at Invictus Games in the Canadian capital Toronto on Monday. Mohammad Esa Akbari, who has lost both legs to a roadside bombing, claimed silver medal while Nasir Ahmad Halimi bagged bronze medal, both in lightweight category of powerlifting. Keep up the amazing work and good luck for the rest of the games :)

Good Evening All, So far the money raised has been spent on suits, ties, t shirts, polo shirts, shoes, trainers and suit cases for the team. They all looked very smart and were very happy with the kit they received 😊 The Invictus Games start tomorrow so lets show our support for the Afghan team as this is the first year they have qualified. We wish them all the very best and hope they enjoy every minute of competing in the games!
