Story

In Fiji, over one third of children grow up in poverty, with poor schools and basic facilities. Despite living in friendly, close knit and welcoming communities, children grow up with limited education and a lack of opportunity. Think Pacific is a small charity works to increase opportunities for these children by providing teacher training, school resources, and through volunteers, improve standards in sporting and extracurricular activities, as well as in education.

I am raising money to enable me to volunteer in Fiji with Think Pacific for one month in June/July 2018. The Think Pacific Foundation is a registered charity in both Fiji and England and Wales, founded by students. Volunteers for Think Pacific lead education, extracurricular and sports activities for over 20,000 children each year, something which I am very excited to be a part of. Your donation will contribute towards my travel costs, and go towards the project fee, 30% of which goes towards long term support of communities and schools in Fiji.

I have received this amazing opportunity through Cardiff University. During the day in Fiji, I will be teaching children either in kindergarten or primary school, and running extracurricular activities, such as dance, drama, music, art etc, and sports activities. I will be living with a Fijian family during my time there, so will be fully immersed in Fijian culture.

I am extremely grateful for anything you can give. Your donation helps me to help make a difference.
