Story

On the 4th June, I am completing the Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2023 which is a 18 mile walk, raising funds for Men United SCIO. This charity was founded by a family friend, Sandy Garvock who is doing amazing work In raising awareness of Mens mental health. Please see Sandy’s comments below:

I want to help raise awareness of Men United and what they do within the local community as well as what they do to support people remotely across the world. Too many lives have been taken through suicide and too many men suffer in silence from the man up mentality. This charity strives to help men with any issues of all kinds that might be affecting there mental health. Don’t Man Up, Speak Up.

Who are Men United and what do they do ? Men United is a registered Scottish Charity based in Peterhead, Scotland whose vision is: “to promote and protect the mental health and wellbeing of men who are experiencing issues that are having a detrimental affect on their mental health and wellbeing by the provision of support and practical advice.”

There vision is simplified with the following mission statement: we are men united, stepping together from beneath the clouds of hopelessness towards futures filled with hope.

Men United has been established to challenge the stigma that surrounds men’s mental health and aims to make a significant impact against the devastating consequences of poor emotional and mental health.
