Objective – To create a safe outdoor learning facility by transforming a disused waste ground in Stranraer.

It has ben stated that on average, children now spend less time outside than prisoners. How can this happen?

People are scared to let kids play freely in the outdoors and woods as we did due to all the propaganda printed in the daily rags. In Scandinavian and other countries with a high child success rate , encourage outdoor play as opposed to classroom learning.

Our school wont be for certain children with wealthier parents, it will be far all children and disabled people. This facility will be funded by the shop and other sources , rely on volunteers, college placements and other parents . Along with paid guaranteed professional jobs. There will be permanent places available , but also there will be a lot of flexibility and make sure everyone in the community can enjoy.

The site which I hope to use is one which cant be developed due to the trees on the site. I have done my research to trace the owner and former owners . The owner would be willing to work with me , either to buy the land or to lease. Purchasing is my favoured option it was on for auction for 100,000 (i’m told) . Formally sold by aldi 350,000. He site has been abandoned for years and is an eyesore that makes the town look bad. It would not be breaking planning laws to have containers or portacabins on the site to use as , classroom, cloakroom, catering and shop.

My Vision

I have a vision in my head on hat the place will be like.

There will be a green open space, trees , paths and a sensory garden made from upcycled tyres and be of use to wheelchair users and blind people too.

There will be a large yurt or parachute for rainy days.

There ill be a polytunnel, raised beds and educate the children how to grow food and flowers to eat and to sell in the spring.

We will approach the supermarket chains and make arrangement to collect perfectly safe waste fruit or food to cook with or just practice chopping and cutting. Its all development at the end of the day.

My vision is there and I have determination to get this projuect underway. I have no experience but once I have a nod regarding funding or grants then hopefully I can share the idea with people and the right people will come to me. I hope that this will provide jobs for nursey nurses , child care graduates and voluntary places for the vulnerable and isolated and all others in the second hand and craft shop.
