I've raised £750 to Help build a community bakery in Tanzania

Food is the language that we all speak. It has the power to build community, break down social barriers and lift us out of the >>>>>> all whilst providing us with nutrition for both the body and soul.
Through my dear friends at Luminary Bakery, I have been offered the opportunity to combine my love of travelling, obsession with food and my growing interest in sustainable community projects with a trip to Tanzania!
Upendo Wa Mama ("Mother's Love") are a group of mothers who have lived through the affects of Albinism. In Tanzania, Albinism is frequently viewed as the exclusive ‘fault’ of the mother, a misconception that tears apart families and leaves mothers ostracised and abused. Often rejected by their families and villages, finding themselves without community, struggling to provide for themselves and their children and often living in fear for their lives. Upendo wa Mama seeks to support these women.
So far, the project has been training groups of women to generate their own income. They have already begun to produce and sell hand made soap, jewellery and baked goods to generate money for their families and they have seen great success in doing so.
So much so that now, they are hoping to open their very own Bakery with a difference. Their aim is to provide local cafes with delicious baked goods, making money to be able to provide for themselves and their family. And that's where I come in!
I have been invited to work alongside these women, provide training and education around baking and cooking. The goal is to develop a training program that will continue to support and empower these women who are searching for employment and independence.
And this is where you come in!
