I've raised £500 to Help raise money to pay for medical equipment for our disabled sister Alexis Georgia.

Hi, my name is Aisha and I am trying to help raise some money for my little sister Alexis Georgia, who was born with Spina Bifida - Myelomeningocele, Hydrocephalus (with a fitted shunt) and Arnold Chiari Malformation type 2, so that we are able to buy her all the special equipment that she needs.
My mum found out that her baby had these problems at her 20 week scan and was advised to have a termination, but because she had become so attached to her already from feeling her move around that she could not go give up on her. So as her pregnancy progressed she began to find out about more problems that the baby had developed and soon the doctors told her that her baby would be born not breathing and had to plan her a cesarean in order for the doctors to prepare themselves to resuscitate her.
On the 9th of March 2016, she was born, breathing on her own and stable. Straight away after being born, she was separated from my mum and transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where she was kept on a baby ward. Two days after her birth, she had to undertake a 9 and a half hour operation, where she had a drain fitted into her head and her back was closed. A week later, they realised that her back was not closed successfully and had to have a skin graft/plastic surgery on her back for a second time. Then, a further two weeks later, she had to have a shunt fitted in her head properly to drain the build up of fluid.
After a long month of her being in hospital recovering, she was finally able to come home. Since being home she has had a lot of progress doing things that doctors told us she would never be able to do. However, she is now 18 months and soon will need a lot of new equipment, such as a wheelchair, standing frame and a special sleep system fitted, some of which we will need to buy that are quite expensive.
Thank you for reading and supporting her.
