    Story

Aisha Foundation School is a non-profit educational institute which was established almost six months ago in the most deprived area of Rawalpindi, Pakistan with noble intention of “Changing the Nation through Education”. Free education is provided to the most needy children who come from troubled and impoverished backgrounds. Students are enrolled on the basis of need, in hopes of protecting them from abuse and exploitation by providing them with an all rounded education and a safe haven.

An estimated "1.5 million children live on the streets of Pakistan", according to various numbers from government surveys and private organisations. The number of children found living, working and begging on Pakistan's streets has been growing despite official efforts. Street children are exploited by being forced into begging and stealing, they are also vulnerable to all types of abuse on a daily basis.

The school has invested in the highest standards of curriculum resources using the Oxford Reading scheme and have recently started Jolly Phonics, which is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics which will help the children with their reading and writing skills, they are also given a well rounded Islamic and Quranic education. Students are provided with books, a uniform and daily lunches.

Weekend Karate classes have been organised for the children and through summer to keep them busy and occupied. We are also currently organising a summer camp for the holidays with lots of activities.

The school has gone from strength to strength in just a few months with 132 children currently enrolled and more joining every week. In order for it to continue to grow and flourish at the same level, donations are needed. Please join hands with us in this blessed month of Ramadan by giving Sadaqa and Zakat, which will change these children’s present and future Inshallah.

    Your contribution means everything.

Spending time in Pakistan the growing rate of street children i noticed became alarming to me. I noticed the numbers increasing and there seemed no hope for change. I woke up one morning and decided to embark on this journey to try and make a difference, one step at a time.
