Story

In 2012 professional golfer Alan Johnston began running a group for children and young adults who are on the Autistic Spectrum or have Cerebral Palsy to give them the opportunity to learn to play golf. AJ, who is Tickenham Golf Club's PGA coach, is assisted by myself (far right) and Luke Drower (3rd from left).

Many of them have really developed from this both in terms of their golfing ability and their confidence as a young adult. Some of them even play as much golf as they can outside of these sessions!

This is a voluntary run scheme which up until February 2018 received funding from Sportivate, a £56 million lottery funded scheme that gives young people the chance to discover a sport that they love. Funding has now been stopped meaning unless funds can be raised, these great people will no longer get the chance to develop their sporting abilities and socialise with others in a similar situation.

So far this group has helped over 50 young adults and children in 7 years. £600 would allow this group to continue running for over 6 months.

Even a small donation of just £5 will certainly be appreciated!

Thank you for taking time to read this.
