    Story

In July of this year Steve White was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour. The condition is called Glioblastoma (GBM) and is often referred to as “The Terminator”, due to its aggressive nature and resistance to current NHS medical treatment. The median survival rate is between six to 18 months from initial diagnosis.

Steve, who is just 43 has undergone surgery to remove 95% of the tumour and is now undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy but unfortunately this type of tumour always recurs. The treatments available on the NHS are limited and are often unsuccessful but Steve is staying positive. There are alternative treatments available under private health care but are expensive.

Steve is a very good friend of mine and I have known him for over 10 years through work and I would like to raise money to help with his further treatment and beat this condition. As some of you know I am a keen runner and have entered several races in the coming months which I will run in aid of raising funds to help Steve reach his target.

In Novenber of this year I will be running the Derby 10 mile and the EMA 10k but in April of next year I will be running the Greater Manchester Marathon which is my first Marathon. I will also be entering as many races as I can between November of this year and the marathon all in aid of Steve.

      Update from the Page owner

Well as most of you know I completed the Manchester Marathon on the 2nd of April and managed to smash my target time of 4hrs with 3:43:30, which I am over the moon about. My Crowd funding page has now closed so I would just like to thank everyone who has supported and helped me achieve my goal of running a marathon I would not have done it with out you and also everyone who has donated to this great cause to help my friend Steve. With regard to my total I even smashed this. My initial target was £1000 but I have managed to raise over £2200. :))

Well I ran my last race before the Manchester Marathon yesterday which was the St Helens 10k. this being a bit of special one as its Steve's home town event and he helps to organise it every year. It was a tough course with a few "proper" hills and the weather was awful so no PB this time but I was please with 46.30. It was also great to meet some of Steve's friends after the event. So onwards and upwards to the marathon on the 2nd of April I really can t wait for this now!! I would now love to smash the £2k mark having now raised £1700
