Story
Hi, I’m trying to raise money for (at least 3) microneedling sessions, in order to help reduce the apperance of my hand scars. In day to day life, I am able to cover up my arms and legs, but my hands are almost impossible to and it makes situations uncomfortable. I feel as though people have already made up their minds about me, by looking at my hands, before getting to know me.
The NHS, sadly, doesn’t cover ‘cosmetic’ issues, even though this heavily impacts my life (I avoid family/friend events, feel awkward in public, get questioned constantly at work) and my dermatologist has suggested microneedling.
I understand this is not a life or death matter, but it would improve my quality of life, as these are results of horrible choices I made when I was severely distressed and now that I’m getting better, I’d like to improve my self esteem and quality of life by removing/reducing these scars. Also, I see my hands constantly and everytime I look at the scars, I’m reminded of things I don’t really want to remember.
Mine and my family’s financial situation is difficult - without going into too much detail, my father is currently financially supporting 5 people.. with NO job.
There is nothing wrong with having scars, however, I think I would feel better if I was able to interact with people without being fearful of them noticing my scars and also, not everyone understands!
