Story
Supporting Future Generations
Akacia complimentary Saturday school caters for the extra curricular needs of African Caribbean children age 5-16 in High Wycombe and surrounding areas. It has been run by a dedicated team of volunteers for 20 years and was previously funded by Bucks County Council. However, this funding ended due to government spending cuts. Therefore it is currently solely dependant upon donations through fundraising events, the local community and the work of volunteers. Aside from academic support, the school also provides a friendly social setting where children can explore their culture and heritage thus helping to build their confidence as they move through life. It is hosted by WMCO (Wycombe multicultural organisation) at the Hilltop Community Centre.
