Story
On Sunday 24 June 2018, the AKIM UK committee will participate in the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run, either walking the 5km or 10km walking routes, whilst nine members of our intrepid Younger Friends of AKIM will run the 10km and 5km runs, raising much needed money for AKIM.
In Hebrew, AKIM is an acronym for the “Association for the rehabilitation of the intellectually disabled”.
AKIM, founded in 1951, is a national – person centered – parents organization, caring for the intellectually and developmentally disabled persons and their families, in Israel.
Today, AKIM is the largest and most comprehensive provider of programs and services for the intellectually disabled population – regardless of their faith, ethnic background or sex – serving 34,000 children, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens, as well as their 130,000 family members, throughout Israel.
We do hope you will support us.
