I'm a comics artist and martial artist and also a wheelchair user. I need to attend comics events to get work, teach, and promote my art, I also visit martial arts clubs to help them adapt their training for disabled students. Finding accessible, affordable accomodation is a challenge, and I now also need a carer to travel with me.
While some events pay my costs, the majority of conventions I attend I have to fund myself. I'm passionate about representation of disabled people, and about educating young people and raising awareness. £1000 would allow me to attend at least two events in 2017 and cover the costs of a carer to travel with me.
