    Story

Waipuna hospice looked after Alan's wife, Kathy, providing tremendous support during her terminal illness in 2015. This invaluable assistance allowed Alan to care for Kathy at home. After her death, Alan became a volunteer, working at Waipuna hospice, which provided him a sense of purpose and usefulness in his life. He loved the people who worked there, what they stood for, and how they cared for the people they looked after. He loved that Waipuna gives people the sensitive support that people need in their own desired environment which is often in their own home. Alan was working as a volunteer with Waipuna hospice until very recently when his own health deteriorated, and he would have liked people to donate so Waipuna hospice can continue its excellent work.

Mr Gregg was a great teacher - A-level biology at SGS took me on to a Cambridge PhD, very grateful for the grounding he gave.

Visiting you in New Zealand was very enjoyable and inspirational : you were busy creating a beautiful garden and lovely house, as well as being so involved with your family and in local activities.

He was the best biology teacher I ever had (1991-1998), and had just the right balance of discipline and humour, always with a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr Gregg's passing. He was an amazing and inspirational teacher, passionate about his subject and interested in his pupils. A genuinely lovely man. Condolences to his family.

A truly inspirational gentleman. I genuinely wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for Alan. I was deeply upset to hear of his passing on Saturday at the SGS reunion. May he rest in peace.

A truly wonderful man - an inspiration on the rugby field, in the classroom and upon the mountain side. Rest in Peace Alan.Danny
