    Story

Alan proudly worked for British Telecom for the past 41 years where he started his career climbing poles, mending phones and driving a van and finished his career working from home as a Salesforce Project Manager. He had a love for technology and was often found investigating new pieces of technology that had come on the market. He always had to find out how these new things worked and enjoyed taking them apart to see for himself.

Alan loved technology and spent many of his holidays down in Cornwall supporting the Padstow Lifeboat. He was their voluntary Webmaster and helped by creating and maintaining a web page in his spare time so that the public could keep up to date with events and recent launches.

We felt my dad, Alan Jackson, would have been proud to see a new piece of technology on the lifeboat and to support training the crew for navigation using computers, which would ultimately support saving the lives of those at sea. Knowing Dad he would have wanted to see how it worked and we can all imagine him wanting to support setting up a new piece of technology. He was lucky enough to see for himself how the gadgets on the boat worked from his trips out with the crew at sea. He loved every minute.

As we would like to see the money go directly to Padstow Lifeboat station, rather than the general RNLI fund, I have set this page up like this to ensure the money goes directly to Padstow Lifeboat.

Please leave your name if you leave a donation and we would love to hear how you know him. Thank you for your donation.

Thank you to everybody who has donated already. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of people that have donated, shared how they knew dad and by your kind words. It has given us comfort to hear what a well loved and respected man he was from those outside of our family.
