Story
Alana Gratty is a 14-year-old who has a love of education especially music. Like most teenagers, Alana loves using computers and with having no eyesight at all, she types up her work with the help of specialised apps that talk to her and tell her everything she types. Once her work has been printed out as normal, members of staff who work with Alana must type up her work using a brailler which is considered inappropriate and old fashioned due to Alana’s needs as she is also Autistic. Alana also finds this current process frustrating which has an impact on her other educational needs. Alana over her life has faced many barriers and over her life she has got through them with the support of those around her. Earlier this month, research was carried out and it was discovered that there is a form of technology which will print Alana’s work out in both braille and ink so Alana as a Blind student can read it as well as her sighted peers. From those that know her, it is well documented that she is a talented musician but her education must come first. The printer without VAT costs £3,603.29 and we hope to raise that money through a variety of ways. The Printer is called a Tiger Cub braille embosser and will be for Alana’s personal use both at home and more importantly at school and eventually college when she progresses.
As her brother this is a personal note:
Please donate as much as you can as it is such a great cause and it's gonna help improve the education of a really talented individual.
