As a non-profit charity we are dependent on the kindness and generosity of our supporters (alongside funders such as the Arts Council) to enable us to keep running free, high-quality projects for underserved groups including adults and young people living with chronic illness.

Pioneering the way with Long Covid Superheroes, our first project, we now hope to continue running projects for young people (and adults) with Long Covid but we need your help!

Long Covid Superheroes was a drama and comics project for young people with Long Covid run by facilitators with Long Covid from Alchemise Theatre, funded by Arts Council England and Voiceability, and supported by Long Covid Kids.

This project was created by our Artistic Director, Louise, who is recovering from her own debilitating 6 year long experience of living with Long Covid.

Our Heroes were invited to:

> Create their own Superhero alter-ego

> Work with our designer Kellis Des Jarlais to co-create their superhero costumes

> Use drama techniques to build a story together

> Watch their stories transform into visual art drawn by our two Illustrators Zhenyi Zheng and Alice Urbino

Our Heroes have said:

"Taking part in the Long Covid Superheroes project has shown me that even when things are difficult, we can still create, imagine and have fun. It has helped me turn my experiences into something positive and powerful, and I feel really proud to be part of it."

"This has been so fun meeting up consistently over weeks and I really hope we can all do something similar to this again soon"

Parents have said:

"The whole thing's been amazing...we don't give voice to our children, and this has not only given voice, but since the nature of Long Covid is so often invisible.. and suddenly, I feel, through these images, through the costumes..is not only a voice, it's a visual. They are seen."

"It's hard to put into words how much this project has helped my son, but I'll try...Having a community with other kids and teens in the same boat has helped him understand he is not alone. The connections he formed have been so special to him. And the knowledge that he helped work on a project that will benefit other kids and teens going through similar paths has been so rewarding. He always wants to help other people, and doing so in such a fun way has been so wonderful for his own psyche, self-confidence, feelings of fulfillment, and happiness. WHAT WILL MY MONEY FUND?

Your money will go towards covering some outstanding costs of Long Covid Superheroes, helping us get the final comic book into more public spaces (schools, book shops, comic fairs) so that together we can help spread the word and amplify the voices of our young Heroes. It may also enable us to run future projects working with young people with Long Covid.
