Story
I'm raising £10,000 to fund a hand-dug well in Mali in memory of my beloved husband, Alec. In 1989 he was inspired to begin a well-digging project to provide a reliable source of water in remote and poor villages. Before leaving the country in 1999 he had trained a national project manager and team to continue the work. To date over 100 villages now have a reliable water source for drinking, cooking, growing food and building houses, schools and clinics. It would be wonderful to raise funds for the 2026 season of well-digging, in memory of Alec Forman who recently died from cancer at the age of 78yrs. He had also battled with Parkinson's Disease since the year 2000.
Alec led an extraordinary life, having visited all 7 continents and over 80 countries. He was raised on a farm, served for 9 years in REME as an Aircraft Engineer, including 3 summer seasons with British Antarctic Survey. In 1977, Alec and I, Jan drove 40,000miles through Europe, Africa and Asia in a Land Rover camper. Listen to our podcast - Strangers like Angels - for free via explmore. And so the adventures continued, to the day Alec left this earth on 26th September 2025, to go onto the heavenly kingdom. May God Rest His Soul - Amen.
