Story

I have been selected to be one of a group of Scouts representing UK Scouts at the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA in 2019. The World Scout Jamboree occurs once every 4 years and Scouts will therefore only get one chance to attend.

The World Scout Jamboree is above all an educational event that brings together the world’s young people to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills. This will be an unique opportunity to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds (50,000 Scouts from 160 countries).

So far I have reached nearly half of the £3,900 total required but have £1,960 to go. The £3,900 covers my costs but also goes towards subsidising Scouts from low income countries so they may experience the Jamboree too. It's great that, through my fundraising, I am abIe to help young people across the world who are not as fortunate as I am.

I have been busy raising funds through Christmas card sales, cake sales, a jumble sale and also through receiving a Jack Petchey Foundation Young Achiever's Award.

My next fundraising venture is to run the Ealing mini-marathon (1 mile) in September 2018. Any sponsorship/donation, no matter how small, will help me get to this once in a lifetime trip next year.

Thank you for your help.
