    Story

My personal vow is to donate 10€ for each unit of alchool I drink in October. Please help me raising as much as possible to fund cancer research!

The lifetime risk of developing cancer in Europe is higher than 40%; in other words, more than 2 every 5 European will develop cancer during their life.

Although significant advances have been made in the fight against this group of diseases, cancer remains a key public health concern and a tremendous burden on EU societies — it is the second largest cause of death in the EU-28, accounting for almost 30% of deaths (source: Eurostat).

The best way to act upon this is to fund the research. All the money raised will go fund research; 50% of the funds will go to The V Foundation, the other 50% to Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca contro il Cancro (AIRC).

After considering several non-profit organizations dedicated to saving lives by helping to find a cure for cancer, I chose these two - below are some of the reasons why.

    - The V foundation assists the most brilliant young researchers and its advisory board comprised of some of the top research scientists from prominent universities in US. Notably, the organizations gives 100% of all new direct cash donations and net event proceeds to cancer research and related programs.

    - AIRC has been trying to make cancer more curable for over 45 years. AIRC does an incredible work in raising funds and giving out grants for cancer research, while keeping the public up to date on the latest news in this field. Thanks to transparent funding, AIRC have been able to support innovative projects, spread scientific information and promote a culture of prevention to the general public.

My sweet cousin Caterina – non-smoker, healthy young girl – has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Moved by her story, and conscious that this terrible fate may happen to anyone, I’ve decided to start a fundraising campaign to support cancer research.
