I am raising funds for the World Challenge Trip with my school for which I have to raise 80% of the cost. I will be taking part in several fundraising activities, the first taking part in a Martial Arts Tournament on the 13th November when I will be performing, in front of the audience and other competitors, what is called a Form which consists of a sequence of martial arts moves in time to music. I had to put these together myself and I have practised for some weeks. This is something I have never done before and it's totally out of my comfort zone.

I am taking part in this adventure as not only it will help me gain confidence and self-esteem , develop indipendence and teamwork skills, become more globally aware but also give back to the host country by working on community projects that enrich the local area.

Through the school expeditions programme, Challengers develop leadership, teamwork and decision-making skills while travelling abroad. By really engaging with another culture and a remote environment as a team they change the way they think about the world and their place in it.
The project phase of an expedition is spent working alongside a local community or on a conservation project. Each destination has its own range of projects, but all offer the chance to contribute something meaningful back to a local area through youth work abroad. Many school community projects are based in rural and remote areas where Challengers live and interact with local people. Teams become familiar with the community and are immersed in daily life and traditions, offering an unrivalled cultural experience.
