Story
In May I’ll be running the Leeds half marathon in memory of my amazing friend Vicky.
Vicky was an incredibly kind, positive and determined person and I was so lucky to call her my friend. Running was a big part of her life and she was training for the London Marathon before she became ill. Because of this I wanted to take on a running challenge in her memory.
Last year Vicky received a devastating cancer diagnosis and just 45 days after, on the 11th April 2025, she sadly passed away at St Gemma’s Hospice.
During that incredibly difficult time, the care and compassion shown by St Gemma’s Hospice meant so much to Vicky and her family. They provide outstanding support to people and families facing the hardest moments of their lives, and I would love to help raise money so they can continue to provide that care.
Vicky’s husband Jack has since set up Victoria’s Trust in her memory. The trust aims to support young people who are facing limited time, providing financial and practical assistance to improve comfort and contentment. The trust will also celebrate those helping by recognising and rewarding healthcare staff.
So in May I’ll be running this half marathon to remember Vicky, celebrate the determination she showed in life, and raise money for two causes that continue her legacy: St Gemma’s Hospice and Victoria’s Trust.
If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean a lot! Thank you x
