Story

Hi, I am trying to raise money to take part in a four week expedition to Borneo; a beautiful country that unfortunately has the highest rate of deforestation in the world. As part of the expedition, I will be spending time in the jungle, planting trees to help regrow the beautiful natural rainforest. Due to these high rates of deforestation, the habitats of the mammals that live there are being destroyed; species are becoming extinct and many animals each year are being killed in the process. The biodiversity in Borneo is high, 3 new species of mammal are discovered every month, yet again due to the slowly diminishing rainforest, there is nowhere for these animals to live. I want to play a part in its regeneration. This experience is a once in a lifetime chance for me. I will have the opportunity to help educate young children, take part in the reforestation programme, work within communities; building houses, shelters improving sanitation & helping with conservation issues such as beach cleaning. Initially I hope to fundraise my deposit to secure my place on this exciting adventure. Thereafter, any funds raised will be put towards the final payment of my trip. The total cost of the trip is £4,282. Over 50% of this money will be given to charity and will be used to help rebuild individual villages and communities in Borneo. This experience will not only expand my horizons but will give me the ability to get a better place in my extended education at university and in my future place of work. When the trip comes I will be a 16 yr old student, I believe this trip will be an amazing experience for me. I would be truly grateful of any donations, however little.
