Story
On Sunday 21 April 2024, I will be running my first London Marathon on behalf of the Baby Harry Memorial Fund. Baby Harry's parents, Dave and Lisa, are close family friends and well known in the Sussex Footballing circuit. When I was successful in the ballot in July 2023 I wanted to use this opportunity to Fundraise for the Baby Harry Memorial Fund.
The Baby Harry Fund was formed in 2001 to keep Harry's memory alive. Harry was born, full term, on 5th October 2001 at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, but was quickly diagnosed with a heart murmur. Harry was transferred to the Caleb Ward, the Specialist Baby Unit of Guy's Hospital in London.
Despite the excellent care of really brilliant, loving and dedicated individuals, Harry lost his very short life on 6th October 2001 aged just 1 day.
This fund is dedicated to raising much needed funds for both the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at The Royal Sussex County Hospital and Evelina Baby Unit at the Eveline Children's Hospital which is part Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, helping both babies and parents who unfortunately find themselves in a similar situation as with Harry.
Over the years, we have enjoyed helping Dave and the family with their well known Euro and World Cup Football Sheets as well as participating ourselves and spreading the word to donate to this worthwhile cause.
In addition to the football sheets, a number of other fundraising events have taken place over the years from various runs to kayaking across the English Channel! This includes my little brother, Ed, who ran the London Vitality 10k in aid of the Baby Harry Memorial Fund.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated to continue their great work!
