Story

This time I decided to use my love of climbing to raise money for the Stockport Mayors Charity which supports a lot of worthwhile causes in the place where I have worked for the last 18-years. My plan was to climb as many of the 4,000m peaks of the Alps over a 3-month period and I ultimately managed to climb 9 of them with the final one being the Matterhorn.

This year the Mayor, Cllr Laura Booth is focusing on:

Limb Power which was launched in November 2009 to engage amputees and individuals with limb impairments in physical activity, sport and the arts to improve quality of life and to aid lifelong rehabilitation.

Stockport Sharks Swimming Club which was established in July 1987 by the then supervisor at Hazel Grove Swimming Bath's, Tony Fryer. He realised that there was a need for people with physical and sensory disabilities, and their families, to swim in a safe and controlled environment, whilst keeping it as close to an open public session as possible.
