    Story

Alex was paralysed aged 9 by a rare neurological condition called Transverse Myelitis. Always a sporty child , he wasn't going to let the small matter of being in a wheelchair stop him. While at a multi sports camp for children with disabilities, Alex discovered he has a talent for wheelchair tennis and has been playing ever since. He has won junior tournaments and even represented GB at the World Team Cup. Alex's big ambition is to get selected for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020. To do this he will need individual coaching and the opportunity to compete in as many tournaments as possible. The junior tournaments are held all around the country and last all weekend so to attend them we have to pay travel and hotel costs. Unfortunately, as I am Alex's carer, I am unable to work and have to rely on benefits, so finding the money to cover those costs can be a real challenge. This is where you come in. If you could help out with whatever money you can spare, you will be playing a part in producing a possible future gold medalist. We would also be willing to speak to any companies regarding a possible sponsorship deal. Thank you so much for reading.

Alex has also been told that he should now be having 2 hours individual coaching each week and playing every day, as well as doing strength and conditioning work and looking at his nutrition. The coaching alone will come to nearly £4000 pa . Please spread this page amongst as many people as possible to raise Alex's profile. If you would rather contribute by purchasing something for Alex I will be putting a wishlist up on his Facebook page " Alex Chaston Wheelchair Tennis Player " thank you for reading and sharing xxx

We've received some of the tournament dates for next year with 7 Junior tournaments announced so far, none of them local. With hotel rooms between £45 and £100 depending on location and time of year and an average petrol cost of £50 per tournament we're in for an expensive year.

I am a friends with Gary and Jo in Margate, from St Paul's Church. I have been given information from Gary on Alex and how great he is doing in his chosen sport. He is gifted and deserves this chance.

I'm Alex's mum. I'm a single parent to three boys and as I'm Alex's carer I'm unable to work. To progress in tennis is very expensive and I don't want Alex's talent to go to waste due to our socioeconomic status
