Story

Last summer I spent 5 weeks exploring North and South India, experiencing cities, mountains, deserts and beaches, but my first week has stuck with me above all other memories. I found myself in the holy city of Bodh-gaya belived to be where the Buddha reached enlightenment, spending most of my days teaching in the Elizabeth Children's home, an orphanage with 2 bedrooms, home to 35 children. It was clear from their degrading staircase, crowded rooms and a chicken coop in their hallway that their home needed immediate renovations. On top of this, after speaking with Pr, Nakul Dev who runs and looks after the home, they were struggling to pay rent and provide enough nutritious food for everyone.

I made a promise to them that I would help them in the future. In two weeks time I will be swimming 2 miles in the Serpentine in order to raise money for the Elizabeth Children's Home. I will be sending all donations via Western Union. I have chosen Western Union as there is a travel agency located minutes walk from their home that have Western Union services and pay in cash. If the £500 goal is met Western Union will only charge £2.90 for the transfer fee. I would also like to note that JustGiving.com will take a 5% fee, this may be avoidable if another fundraising service was used however, Justgiving are a trusted charity whom I have used in the past with good causes.

Thank you
