Story

On January 31st my good friend Wayne sadly passed away whilst we were playing football for our team. This has been very difficult to come to terms with and has left a huge hole in the lives of all that knew him.

In the weeks after his passing Wayne's family have shown amazing courage and strength amongst one another and constructed an incredible send off that will never be forgotten by all that attended on the day. In particular Wayne's eldest daughter Aisha showed her strength by paying tribute to her late father with a very moving speech that brought many of us to tears. In Aisha both Wayne and Lyn can be very proud of the strong, intelligent and ambitious young lady that they have brought up. I learned from her speech that in October she is flying out on what would have been her dad's 47th Birthday to the UN Palace in Geneva as part of her work experience and to gain more of an insight into her ambition of becoming a human rights lawyer. I was personally taken aback by this and immediately came up with the idea of doing something which I have grown to be passionate about in the shape of running whilst raising funds for Aisha's trip so that she can enjoy it to the fullest. I will be doing the Hackney half marathon on the 20th May this year. This will be my first half marathon after only starting racing last year in 10km events, so will need encouragement along the way 😳 I am excited to get recommence my training and will be using Aisha as my motivation throughout.

I would greatly appreciate if you could get behind this great cause for her and a great way to honour Wayne's memory for his daughter 😊
