Story
Very angry on behalf of my elderly neighbour who was scammed today and courtesy of the lovely people of Twitter it was suggested that I set up a crowdfunding page to help recoup some of the money for her. Here is the story...
Some door-to-door cowboys have just charged my 90 year old vulnerable & confused neighbour £600 to prune a couple of small trees in her garden. They can't have been there more than an hour.
She said they hadn't left any leaflet and refused to provide her with a receipt (but were happy to take all of her cash)... there were 2 or 3 men in a van which apparently had 'O Hughes and Sons' logo written on the side and a red branch shredder on tow. They had two very battered, barely legible, metal road signs reading 'caution: tree felling' & left the pavement and road in an absolute mess and we found her sweeping up after them, rather shaken.
I cannot find them on google or Facebook, but someone must know who these men are? The man who I assume must be 'Mr Hughes' was probably late 40s/early 50s, stocky build with short hair, and looked thoroughly disreputable. They are operating in the Weston area of Bath so please be extra vigilant. I am appalled they are targeting the vulnerable and elderly.
Thank you to the good people in the world.
