Story
In June 2015 my friends son was referred to the paediatrician due to developmental delay, since seeing the paediatrician and various other professionals he has been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder and is under a physio for delayed motor skills.
Support is limited for my friends 'different' family life but he is lucky to live in Belper where a local charity runs a group called Special Friends.
Special friends is an amazing charity for families in Amber Valley
In a world where ASD and ADHD is still relatively misunderstood I am glad my friends have a support group which I can see brings much happiness to their life. Professional support is openly received but sometimes there is no substitute for support from other people in the same boat who 'Get It'
On October 22nd 2017 I am running a half marathon to raise money for special friends, to help them to continue to support families and arrange additional needs activities. I want to ensure the brilliant work can continue so I can see the benefit to my friend and his family
We would appreciate any small donation you feel you could afford so that we can help the group continue to support and make a difference to other families in similar circumstances.
check out their Facebook page for wonderful photos and information on the great support they offer to many families
