    Story

My wife and I lived in Tanzania and Kenya for over thirty years, but are now retired in the UK.
Michelle's parents both died of Aids in Nairobi when she was twelve months old. Mercifully she did not contract the disease herself, and was looked after by her grandparents.
Her situation came to our notice through her aunt Faith, who is a friend of ours, and we offered to meet the cost of her education. We have, so far, paid all of her primary and secondary school costs (primary school education in Kenya is now free, but was not at that time).
Michelle has completed her secondary schooling at the Lukenya Girls High School, and has enrolled for an International Diploma in Hospitality Management at The Nairobi Institute of Business Studies. This is an eighteen month course divided into three semesters.
The costs for the whole course, comprising tuition fees, course costs, accommodation, meals, travelling, and a modest personal allowance, will be approximately KShs 594,000, equivalent to £4,400 at current exchange rates. (Note, by comparison, that The Complete University Guide advises UK students to budget £19,750 per year).
We are now in our 80's and do not have unlimited means. We are therefore seeking to raise funds to help us to fulfil the undertaking we made and to enable Michelle to complete her education successfully.
