Story

In September 2018 Roche AV, the company I work for, set out to raise £10k each for two charities by June 2019. The Woodlands Academy and Willing Wilson.

The Woodlands Academy is a Special Needs school in Scarborough for pupils aged 2-16 with a wide range of needs. This includes moderate or severe learning difficulties, speech and language difficulties, autism and some medical difficulties.

Wilson Sweeney is a 2 year old boy from Halifax who was born prematurely & has Cerebal Palsey effecting all 4 limbs. His family are raising money for him to have life-changing surgery in America as well as a minimum of 3 years on-going physiotherapy & the associated equipment required.

We have already raised over £5000 thanks to a number of events, which you can read about on our charity page. We have big plans for 2019, with Sales Director Peter Midgely running over 100miles worth of marathons and Managing Director Anthony Bate travelling the country to wash suppliers cars!

Feeling compelled by the acts of my colleagues, I have decided its my turn to do something to help these very special causes. So on March 24th, I will be doing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

I am assured by friends who have completed the challenge before that this is much tougher than a leisurely stroll in the Dales! But come rain, wind or snow I will be completing the 24 miles and 1585 metres of ascent!

Please take the time to read about these fantastic causes and if you can, give as generously as possible, every donation will be greatly appreciated.
