I've raised £1000 to support Lincoln, a little boy who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in December 2016

Maia & Falcon are attempting a 5k assault course in October to raise money for Lincoln who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. On the surface to many people Lincoln may look fine and like the average three year old little boy. Its only when you look closer or spend time with him you realise the differences are actually quite obvious. He already is slower than his peers at pretty much everything from simple things like getting up off the floor to not being able to jump properly. He fatigues quickly and requires regular stretching of his muscles to stop them cramping up. One thing Lincoln’s parents struggle with is the idea that Lincoln wont be able to be included with his friends as he cant do something. This is where this crowdfunding comes in.
Currently the family are raising money for a Tomcat fizz trike. The bikes are one of a kind and made specifically to each child. This was the first time lincoln has ever been able to push the pedals round on a bike and make them go. The adaptation made this possible, the gears are set to the specific childs capabilities meaning some work but not enough to do any damage. He had a wide seat, back and side support and a lapbelt to help him not fall off as is with most duchenne boys his core strength is not great. This is not just about a bike. Its independance, adventure, inclusion with his friends and just the ability to do it. One day Lincoln will no longer have this ability as much it is heartbreaking to write that it is his reality. So whilst Lincoln has the function it would be great to help him achieve all he can and make all these cherished childhood memories. As Lincoln grows his needs will change & become more complex. Specialist equipment will be needed to give Lincoln the best quality of life possible. Most of the more specialist equipment & toys come with a hefty price tag & would be inaccesible without money being raised.
Thank you for taking the time to read Lincolns story and to support Maia in raising as much money as possible for this lovely little boy. ❤️
