Story

This year I’ve decided to take on 3 challenges in aid of this fantastic cause. In previous years I have supported the likes of Cancer Research, Mind & the British Heart Foundation. All fantastic causes in their own right, but this year I wanted to support a unique charity in an attempt to make a huge difference. I decided to choose a charity formed by one of my father’s ex-colleagues who has supported my journey in HR, providing excellent advice in the first few years of my career.

Thierry and his family have set up a charity to help combat Leukaemia, a disease that tragically took his daughter at just the age of 15. Manon was destined to achieve great things, showing a particular interest in medical research. Thus, the charity aims to contribute to life changing research, provide moral support to sick children and their families, and create awareness around blood, plasma and bone marrow donations. Furthermore, the charity (which is formed entirely of volunteers) reinvest all donations in research, sending a strong message to those impacted by cancer. If you would like to find out more about this fantastic charity and all of the great work they have done, please visit http://manonhope.fr/. I consider it a privilege to undertake challenges to create awareness around this fantastic charity and the projects that they support.

A little bit more about the challenges

Challenge 1: After many years of running half marathons, I've decided to make the step up to 26.2 miles by taking part in the Newport Marathon This is my biggest challenge yet, as I will be running 550 miles in just 5 months.

Challenge 2: Tough Mudder is an event I have done before, if you haven't heard of it type it into Google or Youtube. Not an easy event - 10 miles and 20 obstacles including electric shocks and ice baths.

Challenge 3: Cardiff Half Marathon , another event I have done before. This will be my 3rd Cardiff Half, where I will be aiming to break the 1hr 30 barrier. A really special event!

Every year that I do these events I like to support a charity as supporting life changing causes really DO help me get over that finish line.
