Hi, I'm Alexander, I'm 15. Born and growing up in the UK, I have led a privileged life, by which I mean that I have had plentiful access to food and water, housing and medical care. I am of course aware that not all people are as lucky as myself, and so in August 2017 I am heading out to Uganda with a group of fellow Explorer Scouts to help a local village. We intend to do this by building the local school a proper kitchen. At the moment, food is prepared under a sheet of metal supported by four wooden poles, leaving it exposed to both weather and wildlife. We plan to build a proper building, with bricks and cement, featuring clean surfaces and safe water, away from the deadly mosquitos.
