    Story

Please help me to accomplish my dream of joining the UN Peacekeepers in the field.

For those unaware, the Peacekeepers are the military force formed by the UN, consisting of roughly 90% military and 10% civilian forces. I intend to join the 10% as a logistical and infrastructure specialist, helping to manage supply chains of supplies and refugees to relevant areas, as well as helping to manage the rebuilding of governments in countries that need it. To do so requires very specialised logistical skills as well as exemplary ability to perform in your general role,

An internship has opened up within the Peacekeepers in New York this summer and I'm confident enough that I will manage to earn the placement. The role will give me invaluable contacts from within the organisation and allow me to view the administrative system within the organisation. This will be a huge bonus to understanding my future role in field work as I'll be involved in the process of how the Peacekeepers respond to, organise and plan future missions.

I have a huge passion for this type of career and I've been basing my life around this for the past three years. I've always wanted to do something more with my life, something that excites me but also truly matters. Being on the ground, in amongst some of the war-zones and humanitarian disaster that we see today, is somewhere that I can make a difference. I'm not scared of the risks in this field, I am however terrified of growing old and never having fulfilled what I want to be my life's work.

By supporting me, you will be helping to fund my stay in New York if awarded the position (The UN do not pay interns) as well as helping to fund training courses in directly usable skills for humanitarians in my field. The organisation RedR for example (www.redr.org.uk) run a series of vital courses built for those in my field that will help to extend and improve on my current abilities and skills before I begin field work itself.

    Thank you.
