Story

Thank you to those who have asked about making a donation in memory of our baby girl Harriett.

As we are having a private funeral and not accepting flowers a small donation would be very much appriciated.

Harriett had a nueral tube defect affecting her skull meaning i had to make the heartbreaking decison to give birth to her in my 2nd trimester. She lived for 2 hours and 16 minutes after delivery and she was the most perfect, strong little girl we really expected nothing less.

After a lot of careful thought we have decided to raise money for a special piece of equipment called a cuddle (cool) cot which we were extremely lucky to use whilst spending time with our baby girl, without this we wouldnt have had the special time we did with her.

The cool cot unit allows families to spend extra time with their baby by regulating its temperature it has a thin mattress which is filled with cold water and then connected to a cooling unit which is plugged in, keeping the mattress constantly cold, and reducing the time of deterioration and allowing families longer with their baby.

Many hospitals only have a few or one of the cuddle cots making it vital for us to be able to give something back.

Having experienced first hand just how invaluable these cots are, and knowing that numbers are extremely limited, we would like to raise money to buy another one for North Manchester hospital allowing more local families like ours additional, treasured time to say goodbye to their baby.

To put this in perspective, many hospitals have few cuddle cots. As well as Harriett there may have been another baby who required a cuddle cot that day. If the Neonatal Ward had lost any babies, or another mother had a stillborn baby, there would have been no spare cots which is unthinkable.

We are hoping to raise £3,000 to purchase a cuddle cot. It will be engraved with Harrietts name so that her memory lives on,and being at her place of birth gives us some comfort.

North manchester hospital have been nothing but amazing with us at such an awful time and we would like to be able to give something back to their butterfly room designed especially for bereaved parents.

Chris will also be taking part in the manchester 10k this september in memory of our little girl and raising funds towards SANDS another amazing charity who has helped us at such an awful time, and i will do as much as i can to help any other families going through this heartbreaking situation by supporting other baby loss charitys.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story,we really didnt imagine we would ever be in this heartbreaking situation,im hoping by fundraising for my baby girl and having something in her memory will really help my greving process and her memory will live on.

sending our love
