Story
Here is Alexia's Story:
Alexia Charalambous was born with a Large ASD (whole in the heart), which is measuring at 2cm. Since being born with this heart defect, her heart is now working too hard and is causing the right side of her heart to keep growing (the right side of her heart is now more than double the size of her left side). This is called Right Heart Dilation. Due to this, Alexia's lungs are now filling with blood. Alexia also suffers from holt-oram syndrome which is deformities in the upper limbs which she was born with.
After numerous hospital appointments each year, the consultants have now decided they need to close the hole as soon as possible by performing open heart surgery. The consultants do not want to leave this any longer due to Alexia's condition worsening over time.
Alexia LOVES animals, playing dress up and talking! It's no secret to anyone who knows Alexia just how much of a chatterbox she is! She is always full of energy, giggles and always giving out cuddles... and advice! Yes, I repeat, advice from a 4 year old. Okay, not going to lie, it is great advice. Next time you're upset and need advice, "Go for a walk around a lake with the doggy, feed the ducks and then get McDonalds, that will make you feel better Aunty Giggla (Thekla)." Best advice ever! It really does make you feel better 🙂 Fresh air, head space, exercise, animals and some grubby food- BRILLIANT! Alexia has a best friend which is her younger sister Gabriella (aged 2). They love each other unconditionally and are inseparable.
All donations will go towards Alexia and her parents (and sister) to help support them in the process of the high risk heart surgery. This money will help towards Alexia's Wish List. Alexia’s WISH LIST includes lots of Barbie toys, a ride on a donkey at the coast with her family and an ice-cream, pizza and chips, some nuggets, an Ipad (for the extensive time she will be spending in and out of the hospital) and lots and lots of cuddles from her family, friends and animals. The donations will also be going towards her parents for financial aid (bills, travel, food, necessities for Alexia when in hospital etc). This will relieve a lot of stress and pressure for them as a family due to her parents having to take a lot of time off work to give Alexia and her sister all the love and extra care they both need through this difficult time.
We will be forever thankful if you could help make Alexia’s journey as smooth as possible by donating. No matter how little it is, a little goes a long way and every penny counts.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read Alexia’s story. We really appreciate your love, care, blessings and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Take care, thank you in advance and big hugs and cuddles to you all. Please stay safe.
Lots of love,
Thekla charalambous (aunty Giggla)
