Story

As has been widely reported, the new National Funding Formula for schools is resulting in small schools both locally and nationally needing to make savings in their budget.

My daughters school, a small rural Church of England school, Englefield, has great support of parents and friends and has always provided an excellent start to children’s education in a nurturing, caring and happy family atmosphere.

Despite the benefits of its rural location and despite meticulous financial management, the school is now faced with a cumulative annual budget deficit in the order of £30,000

The sad reality here is the prospect of making excellent, experienced staff redundant, to ensure the school continues to run. This isn't drama, it's fact.

Whilst the school will need to find some more consistent revenue streams, I care a lot for this cause as it not only benefits my eldest daughter who attends, its also about the future, to allow my youngest daughter to have the same experiences of quality, dedicated staff and a great start in her education.

To help contribute towards this I have decided to set myself a bit of a challenge and raise some funds (Hopefully) by walking to work, simple! Unfortunately thats a 50 mile walk. The aim is to set out in June at Midnight around the 20th and walk to my place of work in London with an est. arrival of 1700hrs. (I'm getting the train home fyi!)
