I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015 which is where my journey began. As expected, this was a huge shock and left both my family and myself completely devastated. I didn't want cancer to beat me so I have carried on fighting and taking every day as it came. Not long after I was diagnosed, I was experiencing terrible pain in my lower back and following a number of scans and tests I soon found out it had spread to the weakest part of my back where I had a previous injury. Being secondary bone cancer I was informed that this would never be cured and with the help of painkillers and more tests i'd have to live with it. Surgery could have been an option, however, there were high risks of the bone crumbling along with the chance of losing the feeling in my arm if the breast cancer was to be removed from my lymph gland. I was put on chemo tablets to try and shrink the breast cancer which seemed to have worked although the bone cancer continued to spread. Within 12 months it has spread to my ribs, shoulders and neck. With several stays in hospital due to pain and suspected meningitis, we recently found out that the cancer has also spread to my liver. Again, devastated and scared the doctors suggested a course of chemotherapy which would pro-long the cancer but never be able to cure it. Not knowing how long had left, I didn't want to have to deal with the sickness having needing such a large dose of chemotherapy. It was then we heard of alternative treatments and with a very supportive family and group of friends we have decided to give it a go so I can try and continue to live a normal life, beat cancer and enjoy time with my family and friends. Although the NHS are still monitoring the cancer and chemo may still be an option, the treatment has come at a cost and we are having to fund it ourselves. This is where I need your help.
