Story

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my JustGiving page; this is all in aid of a trip me and my youth group are planning to go on in the summer of 2019. We are hoping to raise funds to go towards this wonderful cause in which we travel to Mbale, Uganda, to join the community for two weeks and to invest in the lives of locals so that they can continue to build up their community once we leave. Below is an insight of what our trip means, the types of things we'll be doing and how you can get involved.

Jenga is a Christian, non-profit organisation based in Mbale, Uganda, that equips local people to believe that they can lift themselves out of poverty and hardship; they describe the organisation as an "impetus for change". The employees and international volunteers aid those both in rural villages and urban slums and we feel, as a youth group, called to serve in a place far from our comfort zone as half of the population in Uganda is under the age of 16. If you would like to read more about this, feel free to have a look on this link : Jenga Website

In July of next year, 16 members (including myself) of St Paul's Youth Group are hoping to go to Uganda to get involved in the local community development outreach. This entails investing into a variety of projects that Jenga have established: this includes the education system and helping in the schools and orphanages of children and young people like us and outreach into hospitals to lend a hand where we can. There is also the opportunity for us to get stuck in with the community women's groups that support single mothers that are stuck in poverty. Many other projects include sanitation, agriculture and entrepreneurship. This makes me feel truly blessed to be given a chance to give back to society and learn about different cultures.

I hope this gives you a better understanding of what we're planning and the reason behind it and thank you for giving this a visit. If you're wanting to get involved, donations (big or small) would be warmly invited and accepted!! However, there are other ways to get involved: pleas be praying for me and the rest of the group going along or even get in contact to chat about it some more. Thank you so much for visiting and giving this a read, I look forward to letting you all know how the trip has gone and how your donations have made a direct difference :)
