Story
My son has been recently diagnosed with Autism at 21yrs after struggling with day to day life of trying to fit in as a “normal“ person.
He landed himself a great job at the end of last year which gave him confidence & a bright future to look forward to. Unfortunatley due to inadequte support & training, my son is now out of work. He didn’t ”fit in” as a “normal” person.
Myself as his mum is trying to support him by standing up for what is right, he has been discriminated against and reasonable adjustments were not made. Who says you have to be a “normal setting”? Thats boring!
My son is quirky, loving, caring and loyal, he see’s good in everyone, why could his employers not see that in him and show patience & empathy.
We’re trying to raise Autism awareness in the workplace by taking this treatment of discrimination to the courts. Large companys cannot continue to ignore the identity of people who need their understanding & support.
