We’re proud to announce that Leigh Youth Hub is rallying behind one of our own—Alfie Sales, an incredible young Leigh lad who inspires us every single day.

Alfie, aged 11, has been courageously kicking Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy’s butt since he was diagnosed at just 3 years old. Duchenne is a progressive muscle-wasting condition with no cure, but Alfie faces each day with strength, humour and a heart full of determination.

Alfie is a regular at Leigh Youth Hub, where his energy and positivity light up the room. Over the next few months, we’ll be hosting a series of fundraising events to support Alfie’s Wishlist—a heartfelt list of experiences Alfie wants to share with his family to create lasting memories.

🏃‍♂️ How It Started

In May 2025, Alfie’s dad Kieron teamed up with Matt Timms from the Super League Raw podcast to run the Great Manchester 10k, kickstarting the fundraising journey. Since then, Alfie’s story has touched hearts across the Rugby League community and beyond.

Thanks to generous donations, Alfie has already ticked off some amazing experiences:

• A trip to Madame Tussauds, London!

• A magical weekend in London to see The Lion King!

• A fun-filled visit to Legoland Windsor!

• Train with Leigh Leopards

⚽ What’s Next?

Alfie dreams of:

• Visiting Universal Studios, Florida

• Be a VIP for a day!

• Watching a match at Paris Saint-Germain

• Meet and train with his Liverpool FC heroes

• Walking out as a mascot at Anfield

And he’s not just waiting for these dreams—he’s helping to make them happen! Over the summer, Alfie has been working with Super League Raw to plan a fundraising auction event in November 2025, appealing to the Rugby League and Football community for signed merchandise. His efforts even landed him a spot on ITV Granada Reports!
