I've raised £500 to get me to Ecuador for a 4 week expedition with Camps International, where I will be working on community & environmental projects.

Hi, I have signed up with Camps International to go on a four week expedition in Ecuador in the summer of 2020, to help with their community and environmental projects.
As part of my fund raising I will be running a half marathon with my dad, on 28th March 2020, at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. My aim is to raise £500 to help fund my trip. And if I beat my dad to the finish line, then he promises to get me a £50 bonus!
In Ecuador, 50% of rural areas are below the poverty line and only 30% of children receive an education. Lack of education together with poor growing conditions has resulted in large cases of chronic malnutrition in the highlands. On a huge scale, deforestation iin the amazon rainforest is contributing to global warming.
Through my expedition, I will be supporting the work of Camps International in the local community. The types of things I will be involved with will include:
- planting and nursing trees in the amazon rainforest which will bring income to the locals that need it from the selling of saplings.
- building seed and vegtable greenhouses that will help children learn about nutrition.
- build kitches and dinning rooms in schools
- build toilets in local homes to improve health and hygenic problems.
I really appreciate your support. Thanks, Alfie Bigg
