    Story

Please help me fund a Container Classroom! Schools in Africa can be very basic, with little security, poor electricity supply, lacking simple resources and teaching initiatives. With one-in-three children still out of school, progress towards universal primary education has stalled - not to mention that 61 million African children will reach adolescence lacking even the most basic literacy and numeracy skills. Failure to tackle this learning deficit will deprive a whole generation of opportunities to develop their potential and escape poverty and it will undermine prospect for dynamic growth with shared prosperity. After spending time at a variety of schools in Africa last year I have seen this first hand. School systems in Africa are inevitably affected by the social and economic environments in which they operate thus, "container classrooms" aims to combat this. By enabling schools without existing suitable facilities to benefit and give children the opportunity to study. Therefore this year I have decided to donate my birthday to raising money to help build a 'classroom in a container' so instead of presents I am asking friends and family to donate money.

This is a cause I feel so strongly and passionate about. Out-of-school numbers are on the rise – and the gulf in education opportunity separating Africa from the rest of the world is widening.

This is a crisis that carries high costs. It is consigning a whole generation of children and youth to a future of poverty, insecurity and unemployment. It is starving firms of the skills that are the life-blood of enterprise and innovation. And it is undermining prospects for sustained economic growth in the world’s poorest region.

    The benefits of your donation:

This donation of an container classroom has the potential to lift hundreds of families out of poverty and offer them hope for a brighter future.

Education enhances knowledge and learning for African communities. Knowledge empowers people, increasing their employability and their chances of living a better life.

    AND It is environmentally sustainable.

Africa’s children have a right to an education that offers them a better future. Give children the education they need and fight the inequalities that stand in their way. Please help me to refurbish a container by donating now! Give children the opportunities they deserve - so they can live a life free from poverty by helping to bridge this educational digital divide! Any donation would be SO GREATLY APPRECIATED. X
